Description
Tar and Vabriga - two places - one settlement. Today, Tar and Vabriga, spreading towards each other, have become one settlement, separated only by the road Pula - Trieste. Historically, it would be more accurate to say - three settlements: Tar, Frata, Vabriga, but Frata is already the southern suburb of Tar.
There are 6 settlements in the municipality (as of 2006), namely: Frata, Gedići, Perci, Rošini, Tar (Torre) and Vabriga (Abrega).
In the past, there were three parishes, three belfries, three churches: St. Martin, St. Michael, St. Anton. Tarčani, Vabrižani and the inhabitants of the surrounding settlements (Perci, Grdići, Rošini) skillfully chose a place for their existence.
It is a fertile plateau (112 meters above sea level), which from the southwest gently descends towards the sun and the sea, and from the north it stops steeply towards the mouth of the river Mirna. It is a beautiful viewpoint: Novigrad to the north, and Poreč to the south. In clear weather, you can see the Alps, and from the Tar bell tower, the view extends to the bell tower of St. Mark in Venice, which faces it, on the other side of the Adriatic.
