On the hill above Grimalda, there are several streams that form the Butoniga, a tributary of the Mirna. It can be reached by a local road that separates from the state road (D 3) Pazin – Buzet. The inhabitants are engaged almost exclusively in agriculture (cereals, fruit, vines) and animal husbandry (cattle, pigs, sheep and goats). Several old houses are arranged for tourist rental. It has a typical castle character, it was inhabited already in prehistoric times, and several inscriptions are known from the ancient times in the area of Grimalda. It was first mentioned in written sources in , when it came under the rule of the Patriarchate of Aquileia. Until , it passed from hand to hand as a feudal estate, and then it belonged to the Venetians. As a border town, it was also important in the military sense, so in the XVI and XVII. century, suffered several times, especially in the Uskok War. In the offer, we got an opportunity for investors, four stone houses for reconstruction with a view of Lake Butonigu. Reconstruction has already started on one house and the roof has been replaced.
